This years Best in the West event is gearing up to be our biggest and best yet!  We are so excited to be able to provide a coaches conference that will feature truly 1st class presenters. This year we want to get the whole province involved so we are taking some of those coaches on the road with us to all corners of the province so that players will get court time to learn from them as well. Coaches Conference Presenters
Coach Mike Procopio served as The Director of Player Development for the Dallas Mavericks for 6 Seasons 2013-2019.  With the help of an unbelievable support staff we were able to develop players such as Jae Crowder, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber,Jalen Brunson & Luka Doncic and many more. In addition to Procopio’s work with the Mavericks, Mike served as Kobe Bryant’s Strategic Game Management Coach for 4 Years 2009-2012. The job?  To give Kobe detailed scouting reports and video breakdowns on every player that he was going to defend as well as every player that was going to defend him. Coach Procopio also was in charge of critiquing his game and giving him a post game analysis and everything that he did positive and negative in every game. Mike now runs The Hoop Consultants,  a global basketball consulting Company servicing Players ,Coaches, & Scouts at all levels from NBA to High School & Everything In-between. The main goal is to work with our clients to have them meet all of their career goals to give them the most pertinent information as possible. For the past 25 years Coach Procopio has developed his craft by working with some of the best players that the game has ever seen. The Hoop Consultants provides many services to help develop and shape our clients. The content that we provide on this site is second to none in developing and shaping players and coaches. Joly was named the Interim Head Coach of the Gee-Gees in June of 2021 following the retirement of Andy Sparks. She previously spent four years on the Gee-Gees coaching staff, first serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2016-17 season, before becoming the program’s full-time Lead Assistant Coach from 2017 to 2020. Joly spent seven months of 2020-21 at the NBA Basketball School in Dubai, serving as Coach and Operations Coordinator. There, Joly coached the NBA Basketball School curriculum to young athletes to improve their skills and understanding of the game. Over the course of Joly’s tenure overseas, she oversaw operations of the school in Dubai as well as contributed to the growth of the game throughout the Middle East. Joly began coaching at the high school level at École polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, Joly then moved on to CÉGEP Division 1, where she spent over five years as an assistant coach at Collège Nouvelles Frontières until 2016. At the provincial level, Joly served as an assistant coach for the National Championship winning Quebec U15 team in 2016 and the gold medal winning Quebec U17 team at the Canada Games in 2017. Joly also served as the head coach of Quebec’s U14 team in 2017 and later was named the head coach of the U14 Ontario Summer Development Program in Ottawa in 2019. Joly is certified as an NCCP Level 3 coach. As a player at Collège Nouvelles Frontières, Joly was named Rookie of the Year in her first season of CÉGEP ball, and was named MVP in her second year, before tearing her ACL her third and final year. Joly then committed to the University of Ottawa, playing one year for the Gee-Gees in 2009-10, before a final knee injury put an end to her competitive playing career. Off the court, Joly is the President and founder of Basket Plus, a non-profit which supports young people living in poverty by building more resilient communities through strategic partnerships between varsity teams, the private sector, and local non-governmental organizations. In 2018, Joly led the effort building an outdoor basketball court in Togo, and in 2019, a Sports Complex in Haiti, all with the help of the Gee-Gees women’s basketball program. Joly holds a Bachelor of Industrial Relations and Human Resources from the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
