MAP Grant Follow-up Report

MAP Grant Spending Plan (for special projects only)  

Purpose:

To provide financial assistance to members and member organizations to promote and develop basketball as a healthy lifestyle choice for all ages. 

Program Goals:

  • Provide affordable opportunities for all ages in rural and urban to participate in basketball leagues, programs and clinics.
  • Develop a broad participation and competitive base at all ages.
  • Ensure an equal opportunity for all people rich or poor, male or female, young or old, and of all ethnic backgrounds to participate in basketball programs.

Funding Available:

Sask Sport provides funding for MAP grants based on previous year members, certified coaches and officials.  Therefore, the amount of the grant changes each year.  The goal is to distribute the full funding to BSI members without extending over the available funding.    

Grant Distribution:

In order to ensure that funds are totally distributed fairly a formula will be used to split the funds amoung the members.  The amount of the eligible grant will be spent out March 1st.  The grants will be paid out upon receipt of the follow-up report. 

Grant Breakdown:

Special projects - by application (maximum of $10,000 of the funding)

  • New leagues to fund start up costs to a maximum of $1,000;
  • Special development projects.

Operational Costs (all teams)

Player development (minor leagues)

Coach Development - based on number of associate coaches (minor leagues, schools, clubs & individual teams)

Official Development - based on number of associate officials (minor leagues, schools, clubs & individual teams)

Travel (teams required to travel for league play, tournaments and exhibition games not included)

Ineligible Expenditures:

Expenditures within the following areas are ineligible for support:

  • Any construction, upgrading, maintenance or operating costs of facilities;
  • Subsidization of full-time employees (part-time or seasonal wages utilized in program development are eligible;
  • Cash prizes;
  • Social events (barbecues, lunches, etc.);
  • Alcoholic beverages;
  • Research projects or feasibility studies;
  • Any other expenses as deemed ineligible by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture, and Recreation.

How to apply:

  • Completion of membership forms and payment of fees automatically registers you for a MAP grant.
  • To apply for a special project grant an MAP spending Plan form must be completed.
  • After the March 1st deadline, you will receive an email with your eligible amount and the follow up report.
  • Upon receipt of the follow-up report and receipts covering at least the amount of the grant payment will be made.
