Over 100 players playing post-secondary ball

While this isn't directly a coaching issue, minor, club and high school coaches around the province had something to do with the 110 Saskatchewan players that are competing at post-secondary institutions during the 2008-09 season.

There are 52 males and 58 females from our province playing university or college basketball, representing 33 communities.

Currently there are 25 males in the CIS, two in NCAA Division I, and 25 at CCAA schools.

There are 33 females playing at CIS schools, two in NCAA Division I, and 23 at CCAA schools.

Toughness is a skill

This is one of the best articles I've read about an often overlooked skill - toughness. Jay Bilas, former player and assistant coach at Duke and now an analyst for ESPN, defines toughness in basketball as he sees it.

A great read for all coaches, and players, at any level. If you coach a high school aged team this is definitely something you will want to share with your players.
