BSI Player Clinic – Melville/Yorkton

Coach Fatih Akser (BSI High Performance Coach & Assistant Coach, University of Regina Women’s Basketball) will be conducting a player skills development clinic for both boys and girls in Melville/Yorkton.

Who:  Grade 9/12, Boys/Girls

This clinic is designed for players to develop their on and off the ball basketball fundamentals and skills. We will focus on the techniques and the skills related to the guard position, which includes, ball handling, shooting, perimeter game, and 1v1 offensive/defensive fundamentals. Players will go through 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 game like drills among other players of their respective skill levels. No matter what position you play, this clinic will take your game to the next level.

In this clinic, players will be introduced to physical, offensive, defensive, technical and tactical basketball fundamentals.

Physical Development: Introduction of aerobic, speed, strength, conditioning, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination drills and exercises.

Offensive Fundamentals: Introduction of footwork, ball handling, dribbling, passing & receiving, shooting (off the dribble, on the spot), off-the-ball movements (cuts/give & go, spacing, etc.).

Defensive Fundamentals: On-the-ball defensive techniques (body positioning, slides, close-outs), off-the-ball defensive techniques (use of the body, court vision, flat triangle positioning), rebounding (positioning and box-out techniques).

Technical & Tactical Fundamentals: Introduction of decision-making rules involved with 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 scenarios (basic drive and kick principles, on/off the ball screen fundamentals).
