University of Regina Cougars take silver at FISU 3×3

cougars3x3The University of Regina Cougars (women) won silver, at the second annual 3×3 basketball FISU World University League, held in Xiamen, China from October 21 to 23.

Representing the Cougars were fourth-year guard Sara Hubenig, second-year guard Michaela Kleisinger, along with fifth years Charlotte Kot, and Katie Polischuk.

Regina claimed the silver medal after falling 21-14 to Lithuanian Sports University in the deciding match. The Cougars also went undefeated in the preliminary round, claiming top spot in the division with victories over Beijing Normal University from China, Magnitogorsk State University of Russia, Thailand’s Sripatum University, Slovenia’s University of Ljubljana (quarterfinals), and Chinese Cultural University (semifinals).

A total 32 universities from 23 countries competed in the 2016 World University League.
